Ana Cleaver

Ph.D. candidate
 mel

Ana Cleaver is doing a Ph.D. in History with advisor François Weil. She works on circulations between New Orleans, Havana and Veracruz from 1803 to 1860. Her working hypothesis is that those circulations made the region around the Gulf of Mexico a truly transnational region. The Gulf is thus analyzed as a bridge more than a border as usually assumed. It should thus enable to articulate the history of North America with that of Latin America, and to bring together US, Mexican and Cuban historiographies.
