Elvan Zabunyan is a maître de conférences in Art History at the University of Rennes II. She is also a critic, an exhibition organizer, and a specialist of American Art from the 1960s to the 1990s. Her doctoral research focused on African American visual arts since the 1960s, and was published as Black is a Color: A History of African American Art (Paris: Dis Voir, 2005). She currently works on the relations between art history, feminism and postcolonial theories in the United States. She is a guest researcher at the CNRS for 2006-2007, in the CENA, part of the Mascipo research center.
