Nicolas Barreyre is an associate professor in American history at EHESS. In his doctoral dissertation, he explored the spatial dimension of American politics, particularly through the impact of sectionalism on national politics. He proposed a reinterpretation of Reconstruction by including the main debates on political economy and decentering the narrative towards a truly national frame. Nicolas Barreyre also studies the organization and the forms of the American State in the 19th century.
