Nicole Fouché is a specialist of the social history of international relations. Her interests include French-American relations from the XVIIIth century on (migrations, cultural transfers, elites' mutual influence, Americans in Paris...). She published several books: her dissertation on Alsacians in the United States (1815-1870); on the American Hospital in Paris; or on Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson in France. She is currently working on the influence of American women on French women in nursery. At the CENA, Nicole Fouché actively participates in three research projects: « Knowledge and disciplines » (configuration of American studies in France since the Interwar years; « History and anthropology of francophone migrants in North America (XVIIth-XXth centuries) »; « Expertise and political action in the XXth century » (social policy).
