Hernán Otero

			professor at the National University at the Center of the Buenos Aires Province (Tandil, Argentina)

Holding a doctorate in Demography and Social Sciences from the EHESS, Hernán Otero is a professor in "Sociology of population" at the Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (UNCPBA, Tandil), as well as an independent researcher for the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Cientificas y Técnicas (CONICET) of the Argentinian Republic at the Instituto de Estudios Históricos y Sociales (IEHS-UNCPBA). His research topics range from the history of European migrations to Argentina (especially the French), to the history of statistical systems and categories and the history of population. He has been president of the Asociación de Estudios de Población de la Argentina (AEPA). He sits on the editorial boards of Estudios Migratorios Latinoamericanos (Buenos Aires) and Anuario del IEHS (Tandil), as well as on the scientific boards of Población de Buenos Aires, Revista Espacios, Revista Atekna–En la tierra and Cuadernos de Historia.

He is also an associate researcher at the CENA.
