The EHESS provides its researchers, Assistant / Associate Professors, and Research Directors with a nourishing interdisciplinary research environment, where the emphasis is placed on providing extensive methodological and intellectual freedom and a teaching load that complements the research of each faculty member, which is compatible with intensive research activity.

The EHESS requires teaching to be based on the current research activities and projects of researchers, Assistant / Associate Professors and Research Directors. This enables faculty members to make the most of the wealth of exchanges with Masters, doctoral and post-doctoral students in seminars whilst also supporting the development of their own research.

Due to its national and international standing, working at the EHESS provides a discourse space for the development of exchanges with other frontier-leading research insitutions in France, such as the CNRS, IRD, and INED, and for collaboration with other major international research centers. The School has been very successful in a number of the European Research Commission's funding programmes.

Researchers, Assistant / Associate Professors, and Research Directors at the EHESS are invited to take up the opportunities offered by the Condorcet project and by the participation of the EHESS in the Paris Sciences et Lettres Research University.
