Présentation

Eleonora Rohland is Professor for Entangled History in the Americas at Bielefeld University. Her research links environmental and climate history with the history of inter-American and transatlantic entanglements during the colonial era. She is a principal investigator in the Bielefeld collaborative research center 1288 "Practices of Comparing: Ordering and Changing the World“, co-coordinator of the research group „The Anthropocene as a Multiple Crisis: Perspectives from Latin America" at the Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) in Guadalajara (Mexico), and Core-Group member of the interdisciplinary Cooperation Group Volcanoes, Climate and History at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research at Bielefeld University. Her latest monographs are Changes in the Air: Hurricanes in New Orleans from 1718 to the Present, Berghahn Books (2019) and Entangled Histories and the Environment? Socioenvironmental Transformation in the Caribbean, 1492-1800, University of New Orleans Press (2021).
