
Maria Chiara Migliore

Maria Chiara Migliore is Associate Professor of Japanese Language and Literature at the University of Salento, Lecce, Italy and Non-Resident Senior Research Fellow at Tōyō kenkyūjo (Institute of Oriental Studies) of Daitō Bunka University, Tōkyō. She graduated at the University of Naples "L'Orientale" in 1984, where she also completed a Phd in East Asia Civilizations examining the laws on official documents (Kushikiryō) of Nara period (710-784). She served as member of the council of European Associations for Japanese Studies (EAJS) from 2005 to 2012 and of the Italian Association for Japanese Studies (AIStuGia) from 2007 to 2013.
Her research interests focus on Japanese philology; Nara period Japanese Diplomatics; Nara and Heian period literature, with special regard to Japanese literary production in Chinese of Old and Classical periods; anecdotic production (setsuwa) of Old and Classic periods.
Maria Chiara Migliore will take part of the Visiting Professors Program designed by EHESS, on proposal of Alexander Vovin (EHESS) from November 3rd to December 4th 2019.
